How to Make Grill-Glazed Spiral Ham
Step 1: Prep The Ham
Firstly, you’ll want to position the ham flat side in disposable aluminum pans to prepare it for grilling.
Step 2: Make The Glaze!
You’ll want to thoroughly mix all the ingredients except for the ham in a medium-sized bowl.
Next, use a brush or spoon to glaze between each slice of the ham and around its outer surface.
Step 3: Preheat Your Grill
Prepare the grill for indirect or two-zone grilling, with coals and smoke wood on one side and no heat on the other. Aim for a grill temperature of 325°F.
Step 4: Grill It Up!
Position the aluminum pan over the side of the grill with no coals. Cook for approximately 12-13 minutes per pound until the internal temperature reaches 140°F-150°F.
Brush or baste the exterior of the ham every 20-30 minutes during cooking.
Step 5: Let It Rest
When the ham’s internal temperature reaches 140°F, remove it from the grill and rest for 10 minutes before serving.
What Internal Temperature You Need to Reach
The internal temperature of your ham should be at least 140°F to avoid any food-borne illnesses and ensure that the meat is safe to eat.
How To Store Leftovers
You may have leftovers; either wrap them in aluminum foil or a sealable container and put it in the fridge. You can use the ham to make some weeknight dinners on sandwiches or salads, heat it up and eat it for up to 3 days.
