I found the Rapala cordless electric fillet knife is a convenient and versatile knife for cutting my catch of the day.
It had a heavy-duty motor which felt like it had much more power than other knives. I liked the swappable blades plus they were easy to remove and put in the dishwasher. I thought this knife was a good mid-range option that came highly recommended by a few of my mates at the fishing club.
Not only can it filet your fish, but we also use it for many of our cookouts. It can easily slice up Masterbuilt smoker brisket, smoked beef roast, bones, and ribs.

The knife is very durable, and I liked that I didn’t need to do any need manual sharpening. The ergonomic, and comfortable handle made it easy for me easy to slice, cut, and fillet my fish. The blades of this knife are made from the best grade of stainless steel and so, it hasn’t rusted or corroded yet
I found that the cord of the Optislice is fairly long at 8-inches that provided me with enough reach when working on a fillet table. I also found that a reciprocating 7-inch blade is an ideal type for small fish like tilapia I was catching.
At a little over $100, I think that OptiSlice is a good addition to any pitmaster or fisherman’s toolbox.

What To Look For in A Good Electric Fillet Knife
There are some essentials you want to remember when picking an electric knife. These essentials will help you make an informed decision.
Performance and Speed
The knife’s performance will be dependent on how powerful the motor is. You also want to look for something where the engine isn’t vibrating too much, as this can affect the cut and shape of your fillet or meat. You should look at the type of fish or meat you want to cut, this will help you determine how powerful of a knife you should buy.
Type of Power Supply
You have two options here, wireless or cord. Both have their pros and cons. Wireless you can take out on the boat with you or easily use in the backyard. However, you do need to remember to charge it or pack batteries. Corded knives are usually more powerful but it’s limited to where you can use it.
Safety
You want to look for safety features such as a safety lock, an ergonomic handle (so it doesn’t feel like it could slip out at any time) plus you want the blades to be easy to release.
Resilience
Your knife will be more resilient depend on the materials it is made of. You want high-grade steel so it doesn’t corrode.
Storage
I think you should look for a knife that comes with a cover or case. These types of electrics knives have many moving parts and you want to ensure all of them are protected. I use a hard case for all of my knives.
Sharpening.
Some knives automatically sharpen do it, some don’t allow sharpening at all, and some you need to do manually. All knife will lose their sharpness over time. You need to be thinking of how you will sharpen it because a dull knife can an unsafe knife. As it can slip as it won’t be able to hold an edge.
