Caught fresh or bought from the shop, grilled cod has always been a favorite of mine. I love how it flakes and becomes juicy after grilling!
I cook the fillets on a grilling tray or sheet pan for delicate and moist grilled cod. This helps prevent the fish from sticking to the grates, ensuring even cooking.
With just a few ingredients and a quick cooking time, this grilled cod recipe is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a casual outdoor gathering.

Grilled Cod Recipe
This grilled cod delivers bold, satisfying flavor thanks to Cajun seasoning—though you can easily leave it out for a milder taste. The fillets cook to flaky, buttery perfection with a tender texture that melts in your mouth.
Best of all, this recipe comes together in just 15 minutes with only five simple ingredients, making it ideal for busy weeknights or casual gatherings. As a high-protein, healthy option, grilled cod works beautifully as a standalone meal or paired with your favorite sides.
It’s also incredibly versatile as a white fish base—perfect for tacos, soups, or curries. Grilling adds a depth of flavor you simply can’t achieve in the oven or on the stovetop.
What You’ll Need
- Cod
- Cajun Seasoning
- Olive Oil
- Salt
How to Grill Cod
Step 1: Preparing The Cod
Then, pat the cod dry with a paper towel and rub it with the Cajun seasoning and salt. Place the cod on a rack on an oven tray and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 2: Grilling
Preheat the grill to medium-high. Once the grill is hot, place the tray straight onto the grill. Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flaky. Remove the tray from the grill, rest for 5 minutes, and then serve.

How To Store Leftovers
Here are some simple storage tips if you have some leftover grilled cod. Transfer the cod to an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic. Store the cod in the refrigerator within two hours of cooking. Enjoy your leftover cod within 3-4 days for optimal flavor and freshness.
To prevent the cod from becoming dry, reheat it gently over low heat in a skillet or microwave. If the cod seems dry, add a splash of water or broth to the pan while reheating.
