If you’re in the “how many recipes can I make in my smoker” phase of life, you’re in the right place. Last weekend I had leftover pulled pork sitting in my fridge and decided to make a Cuban sandwich
Instead of the traditional Cubano pork, I used my pulled pork and threw the whole sandwich on the Traeger. The smoker gets it extra crispy with that smoky flavor you can’t get from a regular pan.
This sandwich has become my go-to for weekend lunches, game day meals, casual dinners, tailgating, camping trips, or when you have friends over and want something hearty. It’s perfect for using up leftover pork, but honestly, I make pulled pork just so I can make these sandwiches now. The combination of Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard, and smoky pulled pork creates the perfect bite every time.

How to Make a Traeger Cuban Sandwich
Step 1: Preheat Your Traeger
Preheat your Traeger to medium, which is around 275°F -300°F. Allow the grill to preheat while you butter the cut sides of your bread.
Step 2: Prep Your Bread
Prep the bread. Place the bread, buttered side down, directly on your grill grate and cook for 2-4 minutes until evenly toasted.
Remove to a large cutting board that has been covered with a large piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Place a large, heavy pan in your grill and close the lid. The pan will preheat while you prepare your sandwich.
Step 3: Heat Your Pork
Heat the pork. In a large sauté pan, combine the pork, orange juice, lime zest and juice, oregano, red pepper flakes, cumin, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
Warm over medium heat until the sauce is evenly distributed throughout the pork and everything is warmed through.

Step 4: Build the Sandwiches
Layer the mustard, pickles, cheese, ham, and pork across the toasted sides of the bread. Press the halves of the bread together and wrap them as tightly as possible with the foil.

Step 4: Cook the Sandwiches
Turn the temperature of your grill down to low and let the sandwich get all toasty and the cheese melted. Check the sandwich after about 10 minutes.
Cool and serve. Allow the sandwich to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing into individual servings. Top with chopped cilantro.
