Crispy Grilled Broccoli

Sharing is caring!

This grilled broccoli has become my go-to side dish for barbecues. The high heat gives the florets a nice char while keeping them tender inside, and the garlic adds just the right amount of flavor.

I love that I can throw it on the grill alongside whatever else I’m cooking—no extra pans or fuss. It’s one of those recipes that makes vegetables feel less like an afterthought and more like something you actually want to eat.

Easy Grilled Broccoli Recipe

Crispy broccoli covered in a sweet and salty glaze? My grilled broccoli recipe delivers a smoky, savory flavor that will have even the pickiest eaters reaching for seconds. I make this grilled broccoli all the time because it solves the “what vegetable should I serve?” question without any stress.

It takes just a few minutes to prep, cooks right alongside my main dishes, and tastes so good enough that people finish it.

The flavors work with pretty much anything I’m grilling, and I can customize the seasonings based on my mood. It’s become one of those reliable recipes I don’t have to think twice about.

What You’ll Need

  • 1 lb broccoli
  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp freshly grated parmesan
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • Crushed red pepper flakes to taste

How to Make Grilled Broccoli

Step 1: Prepare the ingredients

Chop the broccoli into bite-size pieces. Mince the garlic. Toss ingredients together in a bowl.

Step 2: Grill the broccoli

Place the broccoli in a grill basket or tray and place it on the grill grates. Cook at 425°F for about 10-15 minutes. The broccoli is ready when it’s slightly charred and somewhat tender.

Step 3: Serve and enjoy

Sprinkle on some more salt and pepper or parmesan as you desire. Serve with a delicious grilled entree.

Seasoning Variations

This recipe is simple, but you can spice it up if you like! Instead of salt and pepper, try adding more exciting spices.

Use Italian seasoning and fresh parsley if you like. For a more Asian flavor profile, use soy sauce and ginger. For some heat, try paprika, chili powder, or cumin.

Some people love using balsamic vinegar or fresh lemon juice as their liquid. It’s hard to mess up this recipe!

Substitutions for Grilled Broccoli

All of the ingredients in this recipe can be easily substituted.

  • Oils: Extra virgin olive oil is preferred, but cooking oil can be used.
  • Seasonings: Worcestershire sauce can be replaced with soy sauce or tamari. Garlic powder can be substituted for fresh garlic. Red chili flakes can be swapped for other spicy seasonings.
  • Cheese: Parmesan is ideal, but Romano or mozzarella can be used as alternatives.
  • Sweeteners: Honey can be substituted with agave or maple syrup.
  • Broccoli: Fresh broccoli is best, but frozen broccoli can be used.

What Temperature to Grill Broccoli At

Grill the broccoli at 425°F. This high temperature will cook it quickly, around 10-15 minutes. If the cooking temperature is hotter, the broccoli will cook more quickly. If the cooking temperature is lower, the broccoli will take longer.

How To Store Leftovers

Leftover broccoli can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. I don’t recommend freezing grilled broccoli, as it never turns out quite right when thawed.

Chopped broccoli florets are an excellent ingredient for several recipes. They can be used in chicken salad or as a pizza topping.

They’ll complement nearly any recipe you want to make. And the leftover broccoli will add some nutritional value!
