If you love having an outdoor kitchen like us, or you're ready to get started with one, the Camp Chef Smoker Pro Pellet Grill will most likely fit the bill. This bad boy will allow anyone to cook like a pro.
We found this unit has a huge cooking space. So if enjoy cooking for family and friends the cooking space of over 429 cubic inches will suit you.
The inside of its chamber works like an oven, which means that there are no cold and hot spots on the grill. This ensured we always have consistency when cooking on it.
Unlike other barbecue smokers, this one comes with a meat probe. While a temperature display only gives an idea of the inside temperature, a meat probe is the most accurate way to know the temperature of the meat that is being cooked.
So if a top quality, set and forget smoker is what you are after, your in the right place. We have put together our experiences with this unit; our like and dislikes, thoughts on the cleaning and maintenance as well as the warranty, in this review of the Camp Chef Smoke Pro SE.
Camp Chef Pro SE pellet grill and smoker BBQ comes with an array of features to help make your grilling and smoking process much easier and hassle-free. Here are some our favourite features of the unit.
Huge Hopper For Your Pellets
The hopper of Smoker Pro is big enough to hold at least 18 pounds of hardwood pellets. We found that was enough to sustain an eight-hour cook. You also like that the hopper seals tight, just in case there is some serious weather blow in.
Large Cooking Area
There's nothing worse than overcrowding your grill, it prevents anything from cooking. We couldn’t contain our excitement when we saw home much room you get, over 560 cubic inches!
If you like cooking for family and friends like me, you will glad to know you can feed everyone at once. It can get quite tiresome if you have to cook in batches.
Digital Temperature Control Unit
The built-in digital unit has outstanding control of the temperature. You can take the advantage of “Low” and “High” settings or just use the set and forget. This smoker also comes a meat probe, this probe helps the smoker calculates whether to increase, decrease or maintain the temperature and for how long. You just need to ensure you fill the hopper and you can relax.
Ability to Quickly Reach High Temperatures
We have found some pellet smokers struggle to reach high temperatures. However, the Camp Chef SmokerPro SE Pellet Grill and Smoker can easily reach temperatures of up to 500 degrees.
Really Easy to Clean
This unit an ingenious cleanout design. This design allows the grease and oil that drip from the meat to drain out into a dedicated drip pan. You can easily remove, empty and clean this drip pan within a few minutes.
Pellet smokers typically get a build up of ash. With this unit, all we had to was just need to pull a button located on the right side of the smoker. The ash is released into an external bucket which is easily removed and we just had to tip it into the bin. No more removing grates and sweeping or vacuuming out your grill here.
Due to the fact the Camp Chef Smoke Pro SE only weight 106 pounds, we didn’t have any trouble transporting it. We took it camping and around to a neighbor’s backyard with ease (you should have seen the jealous looks we got).

Cleaning and Maintenance
When you have an outdoor unit like a grill or smoker you have to realize that cleaning and maintenance are important. Some manufacturers design some features to help with these tasks and Camp Chef is no exception, if anything they have gone above and beyond.
To make this process very simple. Basically, there are 2 types of dirt that a user deals with while smoking.
First, there is pellet ash. Camp Chef has designed easy access to the burn pot by adding a knob which when turned releases all the ash in an external bucket.
Secondly, the grease and oil is directed through the unit and is drained into an external drip pan.
The manufacturer’s warranty covers all the components of the smoker as long as it is free from workmanship defects for a period of one year from the purchase date.
Note: The warranty however, excludes the finish
