The Himalayan salt block can be used to grill steaks, seafood, like shrimp, scallops, and fish. The salt slab can even be used to serve cold desserts like ice creams, fruits, and cold dips.

What Do You Need For Shrimp Grilled on a Himalayan Salt Block

  • A Himalayan salt block
  • 1 pounds shrimp (this will feed for 4 adults as an entree) – you’ll need to peel the shrimp
  • Lemon
  • Honey
  • Garlic
  • Sea salt and pepper

How to Clean the Salt Block

To take care of the salt block, simply clean it with either a clean cloth, damp sponge, or paper towels. Then allow the salt block to dry for at least a day after cooking.

You can freshen the salt block with a little fresh lemon juice once in a while.

Soap should not be used to clean the Himalayan salt slabs.

How to Heat a Salt Block on a Grill.

Salt blocks can be heated in an oven, on a stove, a gas grill, or a traditional grill. It is important not to overheat the salt block or it will crack or even explode. To avoid this the salt block should be heated slowly.

Follow these simple steps to heat the pink salt block on a gas grill.

Step 1:Place the salt block on the gas grill.

Step 2: Set the grill to the lowest heat.

Step 3: Steadily increase it to medium heat at a time interval of 15-20 minutes until the salt block is hot.

The salt block is ready for use when a sprinkle of water immediately evaporates on the block. The salt block can remain hot for 30 minutes max. Wear padded cooking gloves when moving the hot 

How to Grill Shrimp on a Himalayan Salt Block.

Step 1: In a medium-sized bowl mix black pepper, 3 crushed garlic cloves, or your favorite seasoning. Add lemon juice, honey, garlic, olive oil, and lemon zest to the bowl. Let the shrimp sit in this marinade for at least 20-30 minutes but ideally 12 hours

Step 2: Heat your salt block as per the instructions above

Step 3: Place the shrimp on the hot Himalayan salt plate.

Step 4: Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on both sides, then for an additional minute until firm and opaque
