Preheat the barbecue to high heat.

Step 3: Grill The Meat

Cook the meat for 2-3 minutes on each side.

Step 4: Let The Kangaroo Meat Rest

Let the kangaroo steak rest on foil for 10 minutes after cooking.

Pro-tip.

The meat is properly cooked when it is golden brown on the outside and light pink on the inside. If you prefer your steaks rare, cook them for 7 to 8 minutes in total.

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Kangaroo Steaks
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp Sesame seed oil

Instructions

  • Mix crushed garlic cloves, soy sauce, olive oil, salt, pepper, and sesame seed oil in a bowl. Place the steaks on the bowl and cover with plastic wrap and let the steak marinate overnight in the fridge
  • Preheat the barbecue to high heat.
  • Cook the meat for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  • Let the kangaroo steak rest on a foil for 10 minutes after cooking.

Sous Vide Kangeroo Steaks

Another way to get tender and juicy kangaroo steak is using the sous vide technique.

This basically involves cooking the meat in a temperature-controlled water bath.

Follow these steps to use the sous vide technique on kangaroo steaks.

Step 1: Set the Sous Vide slow cooker to 50 degrees celsius.

Step 2: Season both sides of the steak with salt, pepper, crushed garlic, and paprika.

Step 3: Place the seasoned meat in an airtight ziplock bag with olive oil and red wine.

Step 4: Place the ziplock bag in the water bath for 2 hours.

Step 5: Heat the BBQ/grill to high and place the meat on the hot grill.

Step 6: Cook the meat on each side for 2 minutes and let it rest for 10 minutes after cooking.

There are a lot of ways to use barbecued kangaroo steaks. You can have it in a healthy salad or in a or stir fry. They can also be cut up into cubes and grilled as kebabs with vegetables.
