Yes, many natural gas grills have a matchstick holder. That’s because both the Spirit and Spirit II come in natural gas.
Step 1 – First things first, ensure that the burner controls are turned off.
Step 2 – Open the grill lid.
Step 3 – Turn on the gas supply.
Step 4 – Insert a match into the hole of the matchstick holder, then light the match.
Step 5 – Put the matchstick holder along with the lit match through the cooking grates. Let it pass the Flavorizer Bars until it reaches the burner.
Step 6 – Turn on the left control to ignite the left burner. Look through the cooking grates to confirm that the flame is lit.
Step 7 – Repeat steps 4, 5, and 6 for the other burners. In case one or more of the burners fail to ignite within 5 seconds, turn the burner control knobs off. Wait for 4-5 minutes to allow the gas clear before trying again.
How To Use Matchstick Holder For Spirit or Spirit II Model
If your gas grill is a Spirit or Spirit II model, please follow the exact steps provided below:
Step 1 – Safety first. Ensure that all burner knobs are turned off.
Step 2 – Go ahead and open the lid.
Step 3 – Turn on the gas supply.
Step 4 – Insert a match into the extended match holder, then light the match.
Step 5 – Pass the matchstick holder along with the lit match through the grill plates to the burner.
Step 6 – Turn on the far left control knob (knob 1). Now, you should see a flame if the burner is lit.
Step 7 – Once you confirm that burner 1 is fully ignited, repeat steps 4 through 6 for burners 2 and 3. If burner 2 or 3 refuses to be lit within 5 seconds, turn off the control knob and wait for 3-5 minutes before trying again. This is to allow the gas to clear off.
